Good bones, builder-grade boxes
Southern Highlands grew up mostly in the 2000s and 2010s, so the typical home here has a sensible plan, a big great room and a kitchen that opens onto it. What it usually doesn’t have is cabinetry anyone chose. Production builders install stock lines: standard widths with filler strips, uppers that stop a foot short of the ceiling, shelves where you want drawers, and particleboard boxes that swell the first time the dishwasher leaks.
Replacing them doesn’t mean starting over. Because we build to measure, new cabinets can follow your existing footprint, keeping plumbing, gas and electrical where they are, while using the space the stock boxes wasted:
- Full-height uppers that run to the ceiling, with the top row for things you reach for twice a year.
- Drawers instead of base shelves, so nothing lives in the back of a dark cabinet.
- No filler strips. Every cabinet is sized to the wall, so runs end cleanly at corners and appliances.
- A real island. Many builder islands are a slab on a few boxes; a built island can hold the trash pull-out, a beverage drawer and seating with proper overhang.
Cabinetry for a household that’s always moving
Southern Highlands is family territory, and the rooms that make the biggest difference are often not the kitchen.
The garage entry. A drop zone with a bench, shoe cubbies, hooks, a charging drawer and tall lockers turns the busiest doorway in the house into the most organized one.
The laundry room. Upper storage, a folding counter, hampers that pull out and a hanging rod for air-drying fit in the same room builders usually leave with one shelf.
The loft or spare bedroom. A built-in desk wall with closed storage below and open shelving above makes a home office that can be closed up at the end of the day.
Inside the Golf Club gates
The guard-gated Southern Highlands Golf Club is a different brief: custom and semi-custom estates where cabinetry is part of the architecture. Think paneled appliances, furniture-grade islands, walk-in closets with lighting and glass, and bars or wine walls for entertaining. The process is the same, with one design visit, drawings and a fixed quote, but the details get the attention a custom home deserves.
What the south valley does to cabinets
The two failures we see most in Southern Highlands builder kitchens are the same two the climate causes. Particleboard sink bases swell and flake where hard, mineral-heavy water has wicked into an unsealed edge, and garage-entry cabinets fade and chip on the walls that take afternoon sun. Our replacements use moisture-tolerant materials under every sink and around the dishwasher, finishes chosen to hold their color, and door construction that stays flat through a summer of air conditioning and single-digit humidity.

My builder-grade cabinets are only 10–15 years old. Is it worth replacing them?
Often, yes. Builder lines are usually stock sizes with filler strips, shallow uppers that stop short of the ceiling and particleboard boxes. Built-to-measure cabinets use the full wall height, eliminate fillers and give you drawers where you actually need them. That's the difference you see and use every day.
Can you build a mudroom or drop zone near the garage entry?
Yes. A bench, cubbies, hooks, charging drawer and tall lockers can fit in a few feet of hallway, and we design it to match the kitchen so it doesn't look like an afterthought.
Do you work inside the Southern Highlands Golf Club gates?
Yes. Once you've cleared us with the gatehouse, we work within the Golf Club's contractor hours and keep trucks and materials where the association wants them.
How far is your shop from Southern Highlands?
About 30 minutes by freeway from our North Las Vegas factory. That's close enough for a quick return trip if a hinge needs adjusting after you've lived with the kitchen for a month.
